A limited edition Irish single malt inspired by Operation POSTMASTER, the 1942 Special Operations Executive mission carried out in the neutral harbour of Santa Isabel, Fernando Po.

In January 1942, a small raiding party entered the harbour and removed three Axis vessels without firing a shot. The operation became known as POSTMASTER and remains a clear example of careful preparation, disciplined execution and effect achieved without unnecessary attention.

To mark the 80th anniversary year of the disbandment of the Special Operations Executive, Black Alpha Irish Whiskey is releasing a commemorative single-cask Irish whiskey inspired by this remarkable operation.

At its heart is a 10-year-old Irish Single Malt, triple distilled, matured in a single ex-bourbon cask and bottled at natural cask strength.

Limited to just 220 bottles.

The Whiskey

Selected for its quality, character and strength, this 10-Year-Old Irish Single Malt stands as a serious whiskey in its own right, while carrying the story of Operation POSTMASTER through its presentation and supporting details.

Triple distilled and matured in a single ex-bourbon cask, it is bottled at 56.5% ABV to preserve its natural depth, structure and intensity.

The liquid opens with notes of toffee apple and vanilla pod on the nose, leading to a palate of caramel, buttered toast, cracked black pepper and green apple.

The finish is long and warming, with gentle peppery spice, lingering cigar tobacco and seasoned oak.

Operation POSTMASTER

Operation POSTMASTER took place in January 1942 at Santa Isabel, a neutral Spanish harbour on the island of Fernando Po, off the west coast of Africa.

A small raiding party, supported by careful planning and deception, removed three Axis vessels from the harbour without firing a shot.

Operation POSTMASTER was built on preparation, discipline and quiet execution. It achieved its purpose without unnecessary attention, and that understated effectiveness is what inspired this release.

As each bottle is individually numbered, availability will reduce as bottle numbers are selected and purchased.

As with all of our products, £1 for every bottle sold will be donated to Combat Stress Charity. Additionally, and specific to this release, £5 for every bottle sold will be donated to another charity that we will announce soon.
